MARCO will supply deck machinery and fishing equipment for Grupomar´s new tuna vessel

MARCO has recently been selected to equip Grupo Marítimo Industrial´s (Grupomar) new tuna vessel that will be built by Armón Gijón shipyard. With a 13.65 meters beam and a vessel length of 80 meters, the new vessel´s fish hold capacity will reach up to 1200 m3. Designed to achieve a speed of 18 knots, the new vessel will allow to have up to 30 crew members.

Specifically, MARCO will be in charge of designing and developing the vessel´s hydraulic system, as well as the implementation of all the deck equipment and fishing machinery needed to assure an efficient fishing manoeuvre. The installation of deck equipment like MARCO    WS-486 purse seine winch or PB-64 Power Block, fitted with MARCO´s "Power Grip" system, will allow a fast pursing in all sea conditions.

Grupomar is one of the most important fishing companies in Mexico and produces more than 35% of all the tuna consumed in Mexico. The construction of this new purse seiner is part of Mexican company´s plan to modernize its tuna vessel fleet. As one of its key technological partners, MARCO has worked closely with Grupomar on this initiative, designing and developing its latest 3 tuna vessels´ hydraulic system, deck equipment and fishing machinery
