Grupo NIRSA, the largest tuna fishing company in Ecuador, has once again trusted MARCO technology to renew another piece of their deck equipment. This time, MARCO will supply its innovative W-1945KBT main boom topping winch, which is the first model on the market with disc brake acting directly on the drum.
The W-1945KBT winch incorporates a triple safety system, including a disc brake that acts directly on the drum, a locking pawl, and an hydraulic counterbalance system on the motor. This system doubles the braking capacity compared to other models on the market, enhancing safety in lifting and lowering the main booms.
The main boom topping winch has been designed to maximize durability and reduce maintenance costs. Its brake discs are interchangeable with those of the main winch, and many of its components are interchangeable with those of auxiliary winches of the same series.
The equipment will be installed on the tuna vessel Milagros A, which was previously known as Milagros Z and baptized as Coopeatun II. This tuna vessel was built in 1981 and becoming Campbell Industries Shipyard 127 construction. The vessel has a length of 76.72 meters, a beam of 12.7 meters, and tanks with a capacity of over 1581 m3.
Grupo NIRSA has a fleet of thirteen tuna vessels, six sardine vessels, and eight smaller boats, as well as various fish processing plants. They manufacture Alimentos Real, a renowned brand of frozen foods, canned goods, beverages, and other products that have occupied a privileged position in international markets and on Ecuadorian tables for over 60 years.
